Adult Education Programming - Protocols

As a science-based nonprofit we follow the guidelines provided by state and national health authorities to help keep you, our staff, volunteers and our entire community safe. In addition to our regular safety measures, we have developed the following protocols based on the guidelines from the CDC and NC Department of Health and Human Services. If you have questions or concerns about our new programming protocols, please contact Andrea Funk.

Procedures

  • Registration: Plan ahead. Registration is required in advance.

    • Please arrive on time; the garden gate will be closed 15 minutes after the program start time.

  • Check-in: Please enter through the Main Garden gate at Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary located at 248 Ridgewood Avenue unless another entrance point is presented to you following registration. Parking is available at 260 Ridgewood Avenue in our pea gravel lot, or along our side of the street.

  • Exit: Please exit through the gate closest to the Oval Pool within the historic garden.

Safety

  • Illness: We ask that you please remain home if you are showing signs or symptoms of being sick.

  • Face Masks/Coverings: Face masks are optional and no longer required during programs or events.

  • Physical distancing: Individuals are encouraged to remain 3’ apart as much as possible during the program.

  • Hygiene: Hand washing is encouraged during and after programming

    • A sink and hand soap is available in our Children’s Garden bathroom

  • Thunder/Lightning: In the event of inclement weather, a covered pavilion is located in the SEED Wildlife Garden. However, if there is thunder and/or lightning we have a documented thunderstorm protocol inviting guests to enter our buildings for safety and protection; or, guests are permitted to leave on their own.

Thank you for doing your part to keep everyone safe!
