Conveniently located in the heart of Myers Park, one of Charlotte’s oldest neighborhoods, Wing Haven is the ideal place to host your special event. Two historic gardens - Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary and the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, include two very special venues for corporate retreats, business functions, and small social events*: The Elizabeth “Pepper” Dowd Education Building located at Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary or the Elizabeth Lawrence House. A third venue option, the SEED Wildlife & Children's Garden, is available for children's birthday parties. 

*We do not permit wedding ceremonies of any size

Cancellation Policy:   The deposit, less a $50.00 administrative fee, is refundable if Wing Haven receives written notice of cancellation at least thirty (30) days before the event date. Wing Haven may cancel this Agreement by giving notice to User and refunding all amounts previously paid by User.

Since its creation in 1927, by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, the elegantly designed home and gardens were planned with gracious entertaining in mind. The Education Room brings natural light and the spectacular beauty of the garden inside through glass French doors at both ends. The entryways permit easy access to the expansive gardens for a daylight stroll during events. As a natural habitat and historic garden, decorations are not permitted outside the building; balloons not permitted at all, and no amplified music.

Rates:
Full Day:  $700.00  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  8 hours to include setup and breakdown time
Half Day: $500.00  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 4 hours within this window of time to include setup and breakdown time

Members at the Sponsor level or higher receive a 10% discount on rentals
Nonprofit discount: 20% off total rental fee

After Hours: anytime the gardens are closed to visitors, before 10:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and all day on Sunday an additional charge of $35.00 per hour will be applied for the staff monitoring fee. After Hours Rentals must end by 9:00 p.m.

Accommodates

• The nearly 600 square foot (33'x18') room accommodates approximately 50 for a standing cocktail-style party or 30 for a seated lecture, luncheon, dinner, or business meeting

  • Compatible Apple products can Air Play to both TVs simultaneously. Windows or other non-Apple PC products can only pair to one TV at a time.

Within walking distance from Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary is Wing Haven’s second garden property, the former home of noted garden writer Elizabeth Lawrence. This charming cottage offers a spacious brick-paved sunroom that opens onto the garden. Guests are welcome to stroll through the garden during daylight rental events.

Rates:
Full Day:  $700.00  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  8 hours to include setup and breakdown time
Half Day: $500.00  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 4 hours within this window of time to include setup and breakdown time

Bring your own decorations and cake, and set up at our picnic tables under a cedar pergola or the Foundation Porch in the Children’s Garden. As a natural habitat and exploratory garden, decorations are not permitted outside these set-up areas; balloons not permitted at all, and no amplified music.

Utilize the Children’s Garden for your own games, observe what’s growing in our raised beds, rake, sweep, pull small wagons or water the plants with rainwater from the barrels. The space is yours to explore! Your party guests will also have access to our SEED Wildlife Garden and can explore this hands-on wildlife habitat and its many activity centers, too. Please note, the SEED Wildlife Garden remains open to the public during our regular garden hours of Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Availability for this venue runs year-round, Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with the exception of holidays. Please note: The gardens are open to the public Wednesday through Saturday.

Available to rent Monday-Saturday, year-round.

Rates

• 2 hour rental: $300 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., each additional hour $100

  • Members at the Family Household level or higher receive a 10% discount on children’s birthday parties

• Deposit of half the total amount of the rental fee must be paid upon contractual agreement

Accommodates

• 15 children and accompanying adults. The total number of guests not to exceed 40 people.

Includes

• Children’s Garden, including picnic tables and porch, closed off for your use

• Access to Foundation Office Kitchen

• Tables (two 6’ tables on Foundation Office porch), and/or picnic tables

• Birthday Monitor (Wing Haven staff member)

• Under the guidance of our Wing Haven Birthday Monitor, exploration of our historic Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary

• 30 minutes of free play in the SEED Wildlife Garden - additional hands-on exploration garden (note: open to the public during our regular garden hours of Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

• Bags of Wing Haven birdseed as party favors for each child
